We know that our young people, to live the life they deserve and desire, to live to their potential, will need lifelong economic and financial literacy. Yet these topics have historically been inadequate or totally missing in the K-12 curriculum.
We know that a basic understanding of economics and finance is necessary for wise and thoughtful decision-making in our personal lives, in our organizations, and in our government. The National Association of Economic Educators mission is to help prepare our teachers and students: to advance economic and financial literacy by serving educators.
Our members and participants have programs all over the USA (and some in other countries) that seek to give teachers the professional development, knowledge and tools they need to prepare young students in these life skills. We deliver professional development to a network of educators who in turn, teach economic and financial education to K-12 teachers.
Our important activities include developing and rewarding K-12 curriculum in economic education, sharing new and excellent curriculum, awarding exemplary teaching, and research on economic and financial literacy. We sponsor these directly and/or support through awards and critiques.
