SESSION DESCRIPTION

Economic and social life increasingly crosses national boundaries, yet learners often encounter global issues through isolated countries, statistics, or cultural comparisons. A transnational mindset asks students to examine the relationships, institutions, incentives, and human experiences that connect people across borders.

In this webinar, Dr. Daniel Ostergaard will explore how educators can help learners engage cultural complexity, evaluate issues from multiple perspectives, and understand the interconnected nature of international economic and social systems. Drawing upon his extensive international experience and award-winning teaching, Dr. Ostergaard will share practical approaches for creating learning environments that challenge assumptions, encourage thoughtful dialogue, and prepare students to navigate an increasingly interconnected world.

Participants will consider how these principles can inform classroom instruction, curriculum design, educator professional development, and other economic education programs.


    PRESENTERS

    Dr. Daniel Ostergaard is Clinical Professor of International Business at the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business. His teaching blends international business theory with extensive experience in government, diplomacy, security, and multinational business. He has conducted business and diplomacy in 77 countries and has received numerous teaching honors, including recognition by Poets&Quants as one of the world’s Top 50 Undergraduate Business Professors and the 2026 Best of Carolina award for Best Professor.
